About

Nancy E. Loe, MA, MLS, is a genealogist who is also a professional archivist and librarian. She is available for presentations, coaching, and research. With her knowledge of primary sources and historical research, Nancy can help you get started on your family research or suggest new avenues to explore for those brick-wall ancestors. She has bachelor's and master's degrees in American History and a master's degree in Library Science with a specialization in Archives Administration.

This site is about genealogy from an archivist's perspective – help on using primary sources effectively; advice about organizing, storing, and retrieving paper and digital records; and news about archival collections of interest to genealogists.

Nancy's goal is to help readers search smart and find more information about their ancestors. She is available for presentations at local, regional, and national genealogical gatherings, as well as client research. Visit Client Services for more information.

Her special interest is in helping genealogists organize the results of their research so that they can easily find and retrieve the results of their hard work. Her e-book, Organizing Your Genealogical Research Using Archival Principleshas helped a whole generation of genealogists manage both paper and digital records.
In the past 35 years, she has assisted hundreds of people in libraries and archives with their family research in the United States, Europe, and Scandinavia and is working on her own family tree in the United States, Norway, Sweden, Scotland, England, Austria, Prussia, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany, South Africa, and New Zealand.
